Abstract
This study explores the ever-evolving field of sustainable finance, with a particular emphasis on the development of green banking techniques. The paper offers a thorough analysis, delving into the various facets of initiative of green banking and their revolutionary effects of banking industry. The research examines how the concepts of sustainable finance have been appliedand developed locally, with a focus on Chennai City. The study takes a comprehensive approach, taking into account a range of factors including corporate strategies, technological advancements, and regulatory frameworks in the pursuit of environmental responsibility. The research assesses the efficacy of green banking practices in Chennai, highlighting the city's particular opportunities and challenges by utilising a wealth of literature and empirical data. Important conclusions show how important green banking is for promoting both financial resilience and environmental sustainability. In order to address Chennai's unique environmental concerns, the paper also explores how sustainable finance principles can be woven into the fabric of the city's financial landscape. To sum up, this study adds to the current conversation on sustainable finance by offering a detailed examination of the development of green banking techniques, using Chennai as a relevant case study. Policymakers, financial institutions, and other stakeholders can benefit from the study's insights, which provide insightful viewpoints on how to match financial practices with environmental sustainability objectives in urban environments.
