Abstract
This study explores the relationship between leadership styles and workplace stress in the IT industry of India. A total of 158 professionals participated in this quantitative research, which used the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ) by Bass and Avolio (1992) to evaluate leadership styles and the Perceived Stress Scale developed by Sheldon Cohen (1988) to measure workplace stress. The results of the analysis reveal that transactional, transformational, and laissez-faire leadership styles have a negative correlation with workplace stress. The research suggests that adopting effective leadership approaches can help reduce stress levels among IT professionals. As well, the study identifies interesting connections between gender, salary scale, and workplace stress. These factors contribute to the complexity of stress dynamics in the IT workplace, highlighting the need for a holistic approach to promoting organizational well-being. The findings of this research provide valuable insights into leadership dynamics and stress management in the IT sector. The study also discusses practical implications for organizational strategies, underlining the importance of customizing leadership approaches to alleviate workplace stress and enhance employee well-being.
