Abstract
Development of any nation does not depend on the available resources but on effective utilization of these resources. Unless effective technical education is provided to the youth of the nation, the process of development cannot be accelerated. The number of institutions imparting technical education was a few in numbers till the recent past. But recently there has been drastic change in the technical education sector of the state and there has been commendable improvement in the number of institutions providing the professional education among which
engineering education is the most prominent. This study examines the development of engineering education and some of the significant causes of youth unemployment.
