From Intuition to Intelligence: How AI is Redefining Managerial Judgement

Abstract 

The rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has significantly transformed managerial decision-making processes in modern organizations. Traditionally, managerial judgement was predominantly guided by intuition, experience, and subjective reasoning. While such judgement played a crucial role in uncertain and dynamic environments, it was often constrained by cognitive limitations and personal biases. The emergence of AI-driven technologies— including machine learning, predictive analytics, and intelligent decision support systems—has shifted managerial judgement toward a more data-driven and evidence-based approach. This paper examines how AI is redefining managerial judgement by enhancing analytical accuracy, reducing decision bias, and enabling real-time strategic insights. It explores the application of AI across key managerial functions such as planning, human resource management, marketing, finance, and risk management. The study also discusses ethical concerns, limitations, and the continued relevance of human judgement in complex and ambiguous decision contexts. The paper concludes that AI does not replace managerial judgement but augments it, leading to a collaborative human–AI decision-making framework essential for sustainable organizational performance.
