About the book
The insurance sector in India is undergoing a sea change. The opening up of the insurance industry for private players in 1999 has led to intensified competition in this sector, which was earlier dominated by the public sector. The formation of Insurance Regulatory and Development Authorities, introduction of micro insurance and the emerging population of health insurance etc. have given new thrust to this sector. All these trends have increased the competition both in life and non-life insurance business, which has resulted in more choice for consumers. These trends need an in-depth analysis and documentation for policy formulation. Hence, a national-level seminar on emerging Trends in the insurance sector was organised by the Department of Bank Management, Alagappa University, at Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu, on 23.03.2016
