Abstract
Employee attrition has become a significant concern for organizations operating in an increasingly competitive and dynamic business environment. Although employee departures are often viewed as routine human resource events, their actual consequences extend far beyond recruitment and replacement expenses. Attrition can result in the loss of organizational knowledge, reduced productivity, declining employee morale, weakened customer relationships, increased workload, and disruptions to organizational performance. Furthermore, persistent employee turnover may indicate deeper structural problems involving leadership, workplace culture, compensation, career development, and employee engagement. This article examines the direct and indirect costs of employee attrition, explores its broader organizational implications, and discusses strategies for improving employee retention. It emphasizes the importance of treating retention as a strategic organizational priority rather than merely an administrative human resource function.
